Heaven's Edge

Marc's family is originally from Sri Lanka, and his father returned there when Marc was a child. Now grown, Marc wants to learn more about his family, and he travels to the island in hopes of finding his father. He falls in love with a young woman who is working to improve the badly damaged ecology of the place. When she is kidnapped by local thugs because of her efforts, Marc joins the resistance--and in the course of the events that follow he learns the truth about his father.
